BARZ
Step numbers referenced below are referring to
Tutorial Steps.
If you need help with terminology refer back to that Step of the Tutorial or the
FAQs associated with that Step.
1) 5/18/03:
Step #1 - NASDAQ registered a Stage 3 - Bull Market.
Step #3 - BARZ flashed a Buy Configuration Signal (see Configuration
Chart, below). We executed the Buy. Initial Sell-Stop is established off the
valley-bottom resistance points which are below the 30wk moving average. Risk
Corridor is within ideal range at 18.8% (see Action History Chart, below).
Observation 5/25/03:
Step #4 - A hilltop at 5/2/03 is confirmed as the third subsequent
decrease in price occurs as of market close on 5/23/03. No Sell-Stop
adjustment action required until confirmation of next valley-bottom (see
Action History Chart, below).
2) 6/15/03:
Step #4 - A valley-bottom at 5/23/03 is confirmed as the third
subsequent increase in price which occurs as of market close on 6/13/03. Since
the 5/23 valley-bottom is so very close to the 30wk moving average, we adjust
the Sell-Stop to the 30wk level at $31. From this point forward, Sell-Stops
are adjusted upward in $1 increments in tandem with the 30wk (see Action
History Chart, below).
3) through 8):
Step #4 - Sell-Stop adjustments in tandem with the 30wk moving
average (see Action History Chart, below):
3) 7/20/03: 30wk = $32.20 rounded down to $32
4) 8/10/03: 30wk = $33.04 rounded down to $33
5) 9/7/03: 30wk = $34.26 rounded down to $34
6) 9/21/03: 30wk = $35.13 rounded down to $35
7) 10/12/03: 30wk = $36.29 rounded down to $36
8) 11/2/03: 30wk = $37.10 rounded down to $37

Rate of Return. Half of our original position is still alive (see Action

Action 10) - 11/30/03:
Step #2 - 2nd Sell-Stop violation - BARZ closes on 11/28/03 at $36.78
which is below our established Sell-Stop level of $37. We execute a Sell of
